About the Artist

Welcome to my Art Website!

I studied art in college in California and modern dance with Merce Cunningham in New York City. After moving from New York to Maine, I began playing cello as a way to relieve job related stress. About this time, my mother began making beautiful hand sewn quilts and I became inspired by the geometric patterns and colorful fabrics. Remembering my dismal sewing abilities in 8th grade “home ec” class, I decided to forego the sewing, and began creating my own hand painted quilt designs incorporating my background in painting, music, and dance. Each collage piece begins as a variety of hand painted designs using gouache on watercolor paper. The paper is then cut and glued mosaic style onto mat board and occasionally embellished with beads. I make paper earrings using a similar technique with the addition of several coats of protective varnish. I also create paintings inspired by the cello, dance, and patterns found in nature. Thank you so much for visiting my website and checking out my art pieces.
